Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed the EcoSchool Parliamentary Session, during which students from different schools presented their ideas and proposals on different themes surrounding the environment.
The Prime Minister pointed out that children and young people are part of the decisions of today, not only of the future, and appealed to them to continue participating actively. Prime Minister Robert Abela referred to some of the themes discussed and claimed that the creation of open spaces are a priority for the Government while he referred to the projects that are being carried out so that communities can enjoy green lungs.
Regarding air quality, Prime Minister Abela claimed that we must look at big projects including renewables on roofs, electric cars, and a shore-to-ship system in ports. In his intervention, the Prime Minister referred to the work being carried out by the Government to reduce waste, he explained that with the mandatory separation of waste, the BCRS scheme and the prohibition of single-use -plastics together with projects to reuse waste and make energy from waste will lead us to make Malta carbon-neutral.
The Prime Minister concluded by thanking the participating students and appealed to them to never be afraid to criticize and challenge the status quo and to keep approaching the Government with more ideas.
