Active Aging and Community Care (AACC) has announced the opening of a new center for the elderly in the community of Għargħur.
This was announced during a news conference attended by the Minister for Active Aging Jo Etienne Abela, where it was explained how in collaboration between the Local Council of Għargħur and Active Aging and Community Care it will be this center is opened.
Minister Jo Etienne Abela explained that through this center and other centers like it, activity programs are being offered to encourage the elderly to continue to play an active role in society.
“These centers are important to help the elderly in the community, where not only are there information sessions and knowledge about health, laws and other services, but they also continue to keep themselves active through physical activity sessions that take place in these centres,” repeated Minister Abela.
The Minister claimed that the Government has committed to continue offering such centers and spaces around Malta and Gozo so that the elderly can continue to be part of our communities. The Minister ended his speech by announcing that in the coming weeks the number of centers in our country will rise to 31 as a number of new centers will be opened in Cottonera.
CEO of AACC Dr. Renzo De Gabriele encouraged more local councils to make contact to open more Centers for Active Aging in collaboration with them, so that together they continue to grow this chain of centers for the elderly . This Center for Active Aging in Għargħur will be opening every Friday between 11.00am and noon, where there will be physical activity sessions.
