Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg continued with his official visit to the United Arab Emirates through several meetings and discussions so that Malta and the UAE can increase their economic cooperation.
On Tuesday, Minister Ian Borg had an important meeting with Minister for the Economy Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri. During this meeting, there was a mutual agreement on work to explore the possibility of further investments in the services industry and even the strengthening of agreements in the aviation and connectivity sector, with the aim of increasing the economic cooperation between the two countries.
The Maltese Minister for Trade also had an important meeting to identify new areas of investment between Malta and Ras Al Khaimah, which is one of the seven Emirates that make up the UAE. Minister Borg stated that this Emirate is one which has strong development potential for the coming years. D
uring a meeting he had with the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, this potential was discussed, as well as other areas of cooperation where Malta can contribute to the vision and development of this sector, particularly the services industry. Minister Borg also had a meeting with Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, the Minister of State within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE. During this meeting, in particular, they continued to discuss in more detail how the good bilateral relations that already exist can continue to be strengthened.
The Maltese delegation also had a visit to Masdar City, which is a research and innovation center, as well as a meeting with the Damac group. Minister Borg also visited the Abrahamic Family House, where in the same site one finds a catholic church, a synagogue and even a mosque. This is project that symbolises and increases the importance of tolerance.
