Minister Ian Borg opens Malta Consulate in Istanbul

On Wednesday, 14th December 2022, the Minister for Foreign and European Affairs and Trade Ian Borg inaugurated the Consulate General of Malta in Istanbul, Turkey.

In his speech, Minister Ian Borg claimed that it is an honour for our country to continue strengthen its presence in this well-known city. It was said that in recent years, through the consulate, a number of Maltese visitors to Turkey have been assisted and strong trade relations have been created between the two countries.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs recalled the important role that this consulate has, particularly in terms of consular work such as citizenship, visas and passports. He went on to say how through this consulate, of a country that is an EU member, there is a strong potential to establish more business related joint work.

Minister Borg thanked Consul General Walter Mallia together with Malta’s Ambassador to Turkey Theresa Cutajar for their work in this very important country.

The Ambassador of Malta to Turkey Theresa Cutajar and the Consul General Walter Mallia claimed that this inauguration is another demonstration of the positive relationship that exists between our country and Turkey as well as another step that potentially continues to open more new windows of opportunities.
