This is after last summer an agreement was reached for there to be a dedicated site for ITS in Smart City and thus another capital project will be carried out.

The Prime Minister Robert Abela pointed out how in recent months we have seen a tourism sector that is recovering from the blows of the pandemic and today we have reached a seat load factor of 90% on flights.

Here he mentioned how work will continue to increase flights to our country and he also argued for the need for a viable national airline.

Dr. Abela pointed out that he is satisfied that this year we will exceed two million tourists in our country and that the tourism sector remains a crucial sector for the Maltese economy.

Against this background, he emphasized the tourist product and mentioned that the Government is determined to keep investing in quality for the tourist sector.

In this context the Prime Minister Robert Abela also referred to the quality of the worker who provides a service in the tourism field.

“After a pandemic and during a war in Europe, the companies in our country keep talking to us about the need for more workers. This fact testifies to the growth in our country which has not stopped growing and will continue to grow,” claimed the Prime Minister in the meeting with the MHRA.

Here he said that in the face of all this we must be responsible and train Maltese workers in a sector where opportunities exist.

While thanking those involved in the tourism sector for their investment in order for Malta to improve its tourism product, the Prime Minister stressed that while other countries talk about how they will have an affordable energy supply, our country is looking on how he wants to raise the level of the touristic product.

President of the MHRA Tony Zahra joined the Prime Minister on the importance of training and improvement in the Maltese tourist product.

He stressed that connectivity is important for an island that attracts tourists.

This while acknowledging how the Government’s subsidy in the field of energy has also helped the tourist operators.
