The draws were held by Malta FA Director Football Operations Stephen Azzopardi on Monday on the Malta FA Facebook page.
The Premier League will start on August 19 and will end on April 22 and will be played mainly on Saturdays and Sundays. The usual venues will be used, namely the National Stadium, Hibernians Stadium and the Centenary Stadium.
For season 2022/23, there will be once again fourteen clubs in the Premier League. The League shall be played on a double round basis.
The draws for match day 1 were as follows:

Gzira United FC vs Santa Lucia FC
Valletta FC vs Hibernians FC
Mosta FC vs Gudja United FC

At the end of the league:
(a) the club in first place shall be declared the Champion of the Premier Division;
(b) the clubs in the 13th and 14th place shall be relegated to the Challenge League;
(c) the 12th placed club shall participate in a Premier League Play-Out with the winner of the deciding match between the second-placed clubs of each group of the Challenge League for a place in the following season’s Premier League.
