The volunteer program for the Small Countries Games has been launched, which will take place in our country between May and June next year, during an activity held by the Maltese Olympic Committee and SportMalta.
For these games a call is being made to all those who are interested in helping voluntarily, for whom it will be a unique experience and opportunity to participate, directly as well as indirectly, in this prestigious sporting event that will done in our country.
“Great preparations are being made for this sporting event and today we are going one step further by making this call for all those who wish to participate as volunteers,” said the Minister for Education, Sport, Youth. , Clifton Grima Research and Innovation. He went on to say that a lot of work is underway in preparation for this event, which is not only infrastructural work in sports facilities, but there is also organizational work, consultation and coordination meetings. “We are involving everyone in this organization because we want it to be an experience that not only our athletes enjoy, but also the people in general,” said Minister Grima.
SportMalta Organizing Committee Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Mark Cutajar said that a large number of volunteers are needed for these games and that work has been done by both government and private entities to help attracted interested persons. Those selected will also be given training. “This will be a good experience and opportunity for these volunteers to be more closely involved in these games,” said Mr Cutajar.
Before making his speech, Mr. Cutajar congratulated Francesca Curmi and Elaine Genovese, the two tennis players who won a silver medal for our country at the Mediterranean Games.
The Vice President of the Maltese Olympic Committee and Chef de Mission Paul Sultana said that the volunteers who will be selected will play a very important role in these games and will be contributing to the positive experience in our country of 1000 athletes. and 500 officers who will be taking part in ten sports disciplines at around 11 sports facilities. “I thank Joseph Cassar and his team for their invaluable work in attracting volunteers along with entities such as MCAST, IPES and ITS, who are supporting this campaign we launched today,” he said. Both Joseph Cassar and Ian Restall, who were present and are coordinating the volunteer program for this game, have vast experience in terms of volunteer work.
