Another € 1,700,000 investment in new Civil Protection machinery

It was announced that the Department of Civil Protection is increasingly being prepared to offer more protection in many forms of possible disruption.

In collaboration between the Civil Protection of Malta and Sicily, together with the Universities of Malta, Palermo and Catania, an investment was made co-financed with European funds of € 590,000 for the workers. of Civil Protection are prepared for Tsunami cases.

In addition, four Rescue vehicles (RV4) were inaugurated with an investment of € 1,100,000. These craft have different features in cases of rescue or traffic accidents and are equipped with machinery which will enable the Civil Protection workers to assist those who are in danger on hillsides, and those who are in the vehicle. has been interrupted, or crashed. To these were added three other SUVs, a dinghy, two large vans capable of carrying at least twenty-four people and three towable trailers equipped with tools so that prompt assistance could be provided, and workers would have the including provision for up to seven consecutive working days.

All this was inaugurated by the Minister of the Interior, National Security Byron Camilleri and the Parliamentary Secretary for European Funds Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, in the presence of the Director General of Civil Protection Emanuel Psaila, and several other officials of the Department of Civil Protection.

Minister Camilleri explained how with all the progress that is taking place in Malta and Gozo, the strong investment in the security of our country and in the protection of the people will continue. Dr Camilleri added that in times of unprecedented challenges, with all the crises brought about by the pandemic, both in terms of health and economic aspects, the Government has continued to strengthen investment in security sectors, with a view to maintaining a secure society.
