A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of four flamingos.
Early this morning at around 7.30am, police received a report that in the area of Fra Ben, Qawra, shots had been fired at a protected bird.
Police from the Environmental Protection Unit, the Rapid Intervention Unit and those from the District went immediately to the spot and arrested a 23-year-old man. Officers found a firearm, ammunition and four dead flamingos.
With the assistance of the Armed Forces of Malta, three birds were recovered from the sea, while the other was found on
rocks.
