Police and a medical team were called to Sa Maison Street in Floriana after reports of a man lying on the road.
It appeared the man had fallen and ended up lying injured in the road.
The injured man, aged 61, from Rabat, was taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
The accident happened at 9.15 on Sunday night.
