Malta firmly believes that vessels peacefully operating in international waters must not be subjected to arbitrary attacks and that their safety and security must be guaranteed. International law must be respected.
Malta calls on all parties to work to reduce tensions and to avoid any military escalation, which is in the interests of no one and will simply lead to a vicious cycle.
