From next October, tourists aged 65 and over will be receiving a € 100 voucher individually if they spend a minimum of 15 nights in Malta.
The scheme will be operated by the Malta Tourism Authority sending individual barcodes to each travel operator participating in this scheme. The same tour operator will be obliged to provide a single barcode which translates into € 100 on each tourist booking that meets the established criteria.
To use this voucher, the tourist must present the barcode together with the passport and a copy of the airline ticket confirming the age of the person and the duration of the holiday in our country.
Once the Malta Tourism Authority carries out the necessary checks, it will pass on the € 100 vouchers that the tourist will be able to use in the establishments that accept government vouchers.
The Chairman of the Authority Malta for Tourism Gavin Gulia said that part of the vision for the Maltese tourism sector is for the Maltese islands to be an ideal destination not only in the summer months but throughout the year, even in those known as shoulder months.
