A guidance document on the appropriate use of dangerous poisons has been launched

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and Animal Rights Anton Refalo, together with Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Public Cleanliness Deo Debattista, have launched a guideline document on the appropriate use of dangerous poisons following a public consultation conducted by the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority, MCCAA.

This was launched after last year’s Animal Welfare Council led by Romina Frendo submitted a list of seven proposals as priorities to be achieved for the protection of animals, including the removal of dangerous poisons. in local markets widely and that there are sometimes some abuses in their use.

The ministry has worked with the Animal Welfare Council as well as the MCCAA to identify where snail venom is being misused and find a way forward.
