Group of migrants relocated to Ireland

Relocation of a group of migrants

Another exercise of relocating immigrants from Malta to Ireland took place on Thursday morning, the fourth to other member states of the European Union for this month.

During the same period, the return of immigrants to their country of origin also continued.

The relocation is taking place as part of the commitment of other European Union countries to assist Malta in addressing the challenge of irregular immigration. Relocation helps to reduce the burden on border countries and allow immigrants to have their asylum claim processed in the other member state. These countries will be in a position to return immigrants to their country of origin if they find that they do not need protection.
