A 39-year-old Italian man has been arrested by the Maltese Police in San Pawl il-Baħar on a European arrest, after being sought by the Italian authorities in connection with an organization trafficking drugs in Italy.
In recent days, the Central Intelligence and Analysis Police have been involved in a surveillance of the Italian citizen, after investigations led to the discovery that he was living in Malta.
At around 2 o’clock this morning officers of the International Relations department, working with Italian police officers, surrounded an apartment in St Paul’s Bay and arrested the suspect.
At the same time a co-ordinated operation was carried out in Syracuse by the Carabinieri where 31 people were arrested in connection with drug trafficking.
