Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects Ian Borg visited the locality of Żejtun, where he announced the investment of €7 million in works on ten roads in Żejtun. The last works are currently being carried out on Vjal 25 ta’ Novembru, a main road leading from Tal-Barrani to Żejtun. Also present was Mayor of Żejtun Doris Abela.
Minister Ian Borg said, “The work of this government for the highest quality infrastructure will never stop. This is a progressive government with a holistic plan for a better quality of life for the people. Vjal 25 ta’ Novembru was in a very serious state of disrepair. It was the Labour government that revived this main road and will now be able to be enjoyed especially by the Żejtun residents and all those people who use it. The work for a greener and sustainable infrastructure never stops. In fact, a total of 36 new Aleppo pine trees have been planted on this road. We are committed to maintain this quality. In the case of Żejtun, for the next two years, we have plans for more work on roads so that the residents have a better quality of life and their beautiful village regains its status through worthy infrastructure, where its fruits will even be enjoyed by future generations.”
Works on Vjal 25 ta’ Novembru include a new street lighting system, a new water and sewer system, as well as a new segregated walkway. Around Żejtun, Infrastructure Malta carried out other road works such as; Toni Żahra Road, Labour Road, Id-Daħla ta San Tumas Road, Bugħarbiel Street, Dwiemes Street, Taltas Street and part of Il-Faqqus Street, as well as another four rural roads within the limits of the same locality.
Mayor of Żejtun Doris Abela said, “Several roads are being built in our locality that are making a difference in the quality of life of Żejtun residents. Today, we are inaugurating another important project for us, that of Vjal 25 ta’ Novembru, a main road that takes you to the center. It has been in such a state of disrepair for years that it has become dangerous for drivers, so we are grateful to the Labour government which, with careful leadership, is making this possible. Thanks also to Minister Ian Borg and Engineer Azzopardi, together with the entire Infrastructure Malta team, for their continuous work, both infrastructurally and environmentally. This is great work that the local councils certainly could not carry out alone.
