Local Councils are in the best position to identify the needs of their residents and therefore it is important that we continue to give them the support and space necessary to carry out their work,” said Minister Bonnici.

Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli stressed the importance of the ongoing work between the Government and Local Councils to repurpose public spaces and directly benefit the community. “Working together between the Government and Local Councils is the key to continuing to create stronger communities, with more spaces that benefit residents.” She said that through this collaboration, projects are continuing to be carried out that respond to the particular needs of each locality.

Bormla Mayor Marco Agius said that this agreement will lead to a new use of this space and offers an opportunity to create an environment that will be enjoyed by both residents and those who care for cats living on the streets. “This is another step in our work to continue improving spaces in the community and giving life to properties that can benefit residents. The Cat Cafe will be a project that combines the love for animals with the need for more community and accessible spaces,” said Mayor Agius.

Also present for the signing were Permanent Secretary Ramon Deguara, Chief Executive of the Lands Authority Robert Vella, as well as the Executive Secretary of the Bormla Local Council Crystal Degabriele.

<g transform="translate(0,332) scale(0.1,-0.1)" fill="" stroke="none"></g>

The Land Authority and the Cospicua Local Council have signed an agreement through which public property in Triq it-Tlett Ibliet, Cospicua, will be given to the Local Council for a period of five years.
