This work is a testament to the Government’s commitment to offering modern facilities, increasing accessibility and improving the experience of everyone who visits our beaches,” said Minister Zerafa Civelli.

The Minister also appealed to the public to do their part to keep the beaches clean, while recalling the campaign ‘Xummiemu m’djaja vacanze. Inġġemu Nadif!’, launched earlier this week , which encourages everyone to take care of the cleanliness of public spaces and dispose of waste responsibly.

The Chief Executive of the Tourist Areas Regeneration Agency, Dennis Vella, explained that the interventions were carried out following planning and coordination work so that the facilities would be ready for use during the summer season.

In addition to these infrastructural interventions, the workers of the Cleaning and Maintenance Division also carry out continuous daily work so that the beaches remain clean, maintained and in good condition. Through regular cleaning, maintenance of facilities and interventions where necessary, these workers are ensuring that the thousands of Maltese, Gozitans and tourists who visit our beaches every day during the summer can enjoy a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

Among the work carried out by the Agency were the installation and improvement of seven lifeguard towers, 910 metres of walkways, 67 waste receptacles, 14 showers, four changing rooms, ten ladders to the sea and four information boards. These interventions were carried out to make the beaches more accessible, functional and safe for everyone who uses them. These works were carried out in conjunction with the Malta Tourism Authority.

The works were spread across several beaches across Malta, including those with Blue Flag certification and other quality beaches, including Mellieħa Bay, Golden Bay, Għajn Tuffieħa Bay, Bu ġibba Perched Beach, Qawra Point, Fond Għadir, St George’s Bay and Fajtata Bay.

Interventions were also carried out in Baħar iċ-Ċagħaq, Balluta Bay in Sliema, St Thomas Bay in Marsaskala, Tal-Magħluq and Għar l-Aħmar in Marsaxlokk, Xatt San Ġorġ and Pretty Bay in Birżebbuġa, as well as in Wignacourt and s-Simenta in St. Paul’s Bay, where walkways and stairs were built, and in the areas of tal-Armier, Little Armier and Mellieħa, where facilities continued to be strengthened so that the public can enjoy these beaches with greater comfort and accessibility.

Photos: DOI/MLGP

<p id="pvc_stats_59260" class="pvc_stats all "
