Minister Attard reaffirms commitment to strengthening human resources and investing in digital tools to further enhance services for citizens<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During a visit to Identity Malta Agency, Minister for Infrastructure, Planning and Employment Jonathan Attard met with various employees across this Agency\u2019s departments. The Minister together with Permanent Secretary Ronald Mizzi was welcomed by Identity Malta Agency\u2019s Chairperson Marlene Mizzi and Chief Executive Officer Colonel Dr Edric Zahra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Zahra, alongside representatives from the Agency\u2019s different divisions, outlined the work currently being carried out within their respective areas, highlighting ongoing achievements, challenges and future objectives aimed at further improving the services provided to Maltese and Gozitan citizens throughout every stage of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Minister Attard praised the Agency\u2019s performance and the progress achieved in meeting its strategic objectives, particularly within the National Identity Card Division. The Agency has successfully completed the renewal process of around 160,000 Identity Cards, an important milestone that further strengthens the quality and security of Malta\u2019s identity documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe national Identity Card renewal process has now been successfully completed. Infact the Identity Card Division has recorded a decline in new applications compared with the same period last year, following the conclusion of this extensive and complex renewal exercise. At the same time, we continue to strengthen our digital services. During the first half of this year alone, more than eight million transactions were carried out through the eID account,\u201d said Minister Attard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identity Malta Agency remains committed to investing in efficient, citizen-centred services and advanced technology, while reminding all cardholders of their responsibility to ensure that their Identity Card is kept valid at all times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the meeting, it was revealed that in the first six months of this year, Identity Malta processed a total of 250,000 applications across the wide range of services it provides. It was also confirmed that the service of the Identity Card renewals which are offered through our Local Councils will also continue to be available in the weeks and months ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe organisation and professionalism we witnessed across every department of Identity Malta clearly demonstrate a shared vision between the Agency\u2019s leadership and the Ministry. This vision places people at its core through continued investment in our workforce, including improved working conditions and ongoing professional development opportunities. At the same time, we remain committed to investing in modern, efficient digital tools that will further enhance the quality of service we provide to our citizens,\u201d Minister Attard said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chairperson Marlene Mizzi stated \u201cOur goal is to ensure that citizens who rely on the Agency\u2019s services at every stage of their documentation journey continue to receive an increasingly high-quality service. This is made possible through the dedication and experience of our employees, who are provided with opportunities to develop professionally while continuing to raise the standard of service we deliver.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chief Executive Officer Dr Edric Zahra outlined the Agency\u2019s ongoing work across several key areas, including human resources where equal opportunities are being promoted for all employees, artificial intelligence, infrastructure development and customer care. Dr Zahra also noted that approximately 4% of the Agency\u2019s workforce is made up of persons with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Identity Malta delivers a broad range of services through its network of branches across Malta. In recent months, it also inaugurated a new branch in Gozo, further improving accessibility and bringing services closer to the communities it serves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
