The Government is continuing to strengthen investment in the fisheries sector through the launch of a new call under the Investments on Board Fishing Vessels Scheme, funded by the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF). This scheme aims to help Maltese and Gozitan fishermen modernise their vessels, improve safety on board, increase energy efficiency and continue to make the sector more sustainable and competitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Supply Anton Refalo said that the Government will continue to be close to fishermen and support them with concrete investments that respond to their needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“This scheme is a direct investment in the future of Maltese and Gozitan fishing. Through it, we are giving fishermen the opportunity to continue to modernise their vessels, improve working conditions and increase the efficiency of their operations. We will continue to work to ensure that the sector remains sustainable, resilient and competitive, while continuing to protect the livelihoods of the families who depend on it,” said Minister Anton Refalo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Minister for European Funds Keith Azzopardi Tanti said that European funds are a crucial tool to support our traditional sectors and turn challenges into opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“EMFAF funds are a testament to our commitment to delivering European aid directly to where it is needed. By allocating these resources to improvements and technology on board vessels, we are ensuring that EU funds translate into safer jobs and a more modern and resilient fisheries sector in Malta and Gozo,” reiterated Minister Keith Azzopardi Tanti.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The call is open to fishermen holding an MFA or MFB license and supports investments that continue to strengthen the modernisation, sustainability and competitiveness of the Maltese and Gozitan fishing fleet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
