In the coming weeks, various localities across Malta and Gozo will be hosting a traditional Maltese balcony that will serve as a stage for ‘Malta Tells’, an innovative cultural and artistic project that combines theatre, art and local stories to celebrate everything that makes us Maltese. Through productions with elements of interaction with the public, the project will deliver cultural experiences in public spaces, while promoting the unique identity and attractions of localities across the country.<\/p>\n

Minister for Local Government and Public Works Alison Zerafa Civelli visited the site where work is currently underway on the construction of this traditional Maltese gallery. During the visit, the Minister saw first-hand the work being done to create this artistic structure, which has been designed to be mobile and set up in various locations as a backdrop for theatrical, artistic and cultural performances that will enliven public spaces across the country.<\/p>\n

Minister Alison Zerafa Civelli said that this project is a clear example of how culture can be a means of giving new life to public spaces and strengthening the work of local government. \u201cLocal Councils are the heart of our communities and through initiatives such as Malta Tells we are creating new opportunities for localities to be centres of cultural activity, where residents and visitors can experience the identity and history of each village and town in an interactive and innovative way,\u201d the Minister said.<\/p>\n

Artistic Director of Malta Tells, Ryan Galea explained that the traditional Maltese gallery will be the heart of this project and will serve not only as a theatrical stage, but also as a symbol of Maltese identity. From it, an actor will lead interactive productions that reflect daily life, traditions, culture and the characteristics that make us a unique people. Along with the theatrical performances, the gallery will also include artistic elements and digital content that will continue to promote the history, heritage and attractions of the localities you will visit.<\/p>\n

Through Malta Tells, each locality will be given the opportunity to tell its story in a creative and accessible way. The project will combine theatrical performances, artistic installations, audiovisual productions to encourage both residents and visitors to explore different localities across Malta and Gozo, while continuing to strengthen the work towards a more widespread distribution of tourism activity.<\/p>\n
