European Parliament President Roberta Metsola and political group leaders will visit Dublin to prepare for the upcoming Irish presidency of the Council of the EU.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On Tuesday, 23 June, European Parliament leaders will meet with Ireland\u2019s President Catherine Connolly, the Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin and government ministers. They will also hold meetings at the Houses of the Oireachtas, including with the Ceann Comhairle and the Cathaoirleach, speakers of the two houses of parliament.<\/p>\n

Discussions are expected to centre around the priorities of the forthcoming Irish presidency \u2013 including competitiveness and the One Europe, One Market roadmap, the next EU long-term budget, and broader issues relating to EU values and security.<\/p>\n

On 1 July, Ireland will assume the presidency of the Council of the EU, taking on a central role in shaping the Union\u2019s agenda. As customary, the European Parliament\u2019s\u00a0Conference of Presidents<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 comprising President Roberta Metsola and the leaders of the political groups \u2013 travels to Ireland to prepare for the upcoming presidency.<\/p>\n

With this visit we will make sure to hit the ground running as of day one,\u201d says Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, ahead of the visit.<\/p>\n

Following their meeting, President Roberta Metsola and Taoiseach Miche\u00e1l Martin will address the press at 18:10 IST. The press conference will be broadcast live on the\u00a0European Parliament\u2019s multimedia centre<\/a>\u00a0and on\u00a0EbS<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Members of the media planning on attending the press conference must accredit via the\u00a0Irish presidency\u2019s accreditation platform<\/a>. Please also email\u00a0Press.EUPresidency@dfa.ie<\/a>\u00a0by 17.00 IST on Friday, 19 June to confirm your attendance.<\/p>\n

Ireland will hold the\u00a0rotating presidency of the Council of the EU\u00a0<\/strong>from July to December 2026, followed by Lithuania from January 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
