Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia launched a musical space at the headquarters of the San Filep AD 1851 Band Club.<\/p>\n
With an investment of \u20ac20,000, this project will improve the quality of music teaching and will create space for students for their musical expression.<\/p>\n
Dozens of music students will benefit from this project as each session will accommodate around 25 students. The first group of music students who will use this hall will be graduating and starting to play their instrument in the coming years.<\/p>\n
Minister Farrugia explained that this investment \u2014 ‘Indoqqu Flimkien: A Space for a Musical Ensemble at the Heart of the Community’ \u2014 was funded through the Voluntary Organisations Project Scheme (VOPS) of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.<\/p>\n
Minister Farrugia said that this project symbolises the Government’s journey of continuity in assisting volunteerism which was, is and will remain central to the Government’s work.<\/p>\n
Minister Farrugia praised the initiative of the musical society and of all those organisations and societies that bring together young people, children and even thousands of people in work and dedication that varies from assembly, to pyrotechnics, music and even the organisation of various community activities.<\/p>\n
Minister Julia Farrugia concluded by remarking that “This year is truly dedicated to volunteering and as we have done in recent years, we will continue to invest in the hundreds of voluntary organisations that are improving the quality of life of so many families and individuals, from people with disabilities to those who do so much good in the community.”<\/p>\n
The Chief Executive of the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) Mauro Pace Parascandalo, said that “It is worth mentioning that the San Filep Band is not the first time that it is making use of the Council’s funds. This is done in a wise way in order to improve the musical and social experience, and it testifies to a vibrant organization that is always looking at how to strengthen its work in the community.”<\/p>\n
The President of the San Filep Band Musical Society, Dr Philip Sciortino, described this new space as precious and accessible to all, in the heart of \u017bebbu\u0121, which will lead to more children learning music in a better environment together.<\/p>\n
The room’s restoration project involved the necessary plastering and painting, acoustic treatment to help students concentrate without distractions, and even a custom display case to house the instruments and books used for teaching. There was also attention to color, lighting, and the organization of the space to create a space that stimulates creativity and a love of music.<\/p>\n
