At a press conference marking the first direct flight from New York to Malta by Delta Airlines, Prime Minister Robert Abela described this development as a celebration of our country’s path towards strengthening connectivity and the ambition we have as a country to move ever further forward.<\/p>\n

In the presence of Minister for Tourism Jo Etienne Abela, Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg and representatives from Delta Airlines, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that the flight between America and Malta is another show of confidence in our country.<\/p>\n

In light of the fact that flights from JF Kennedy Airport in New York and Malta will be operated three times a week, Dr Abela said that our country will not only continue to welcome quality tourists but also investors and families who come to visit our country. He said that we have a greater opportunity to continue strengthening economic cooperation with the United States.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister noted the positive results that our country is achieving in tourism and in terms of the ongoing investment in Malta’s international airport. He said that for the first time, one million passengers passed through the airport in the spring. Dr Abela pointed out the Malta Tourism Authority’s strategy to push Malta as a tourist destination that meets the needs of everyone.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Robert Abela said that a new government led by him will continue to provide stability and peace of mind in the energy sector and in terms of supply so that the aviation industry can continue its operations. He said that he looks forward to further cooperation so that tourism continues to leave added value in a country that is continuing to obtain economic certificates that demonstrate the strength of a country such as Malta.<\/p>\n

This comes as EUROSTAT noted in recent days that in the first quarter of this year, Malta had its best economic growth, while S&P Global Ratings confirmed a stable rating and outlook for the Maltese economy.<\/p>\n
