The Malta Women’s Under-17 National Team registered an impressive victory at the Centenary Stadium on Wednesday afternoon, beating Saudi Arabia comfortably by five goals to one. This represented the first of two international friendlies between the two sides over the space of a few days.<\/p>\n

Malta got off to a flying start when Katrina Catania was in the clear after just two minutes and calmly slotted the ball past Alnibali. Malta were cruising and on 11 minutes they doubled the lead when Martina Montebello Caruana received a fine pass and shot past the Saudi keeper in almost complete replica of the first goal.<\/p>\n

Malta continued creating chances with Catania hitting the post on 15 minutes as the local girls were completely dominant. On the half-hour mark, Montebello Caruana had another excellent opportunity, but her shot was well saved by Alinbali. Saudi Arabia pulled one back on 34 minutes through Ghadi Alotaibi with a well-taken strike from a goalmouth scramble.<\/p>\n

Malta restored their two-goal lead on 53 minutes when a shot by Catania was saved by Alnibali with the ball falling to Amy Muscat who slammed home. On 61 minutes it was 4-1 when a fine pass by Muscat found Catania who made no mistake for her brace as Malta were now cruising.<\/p>\n

It was 5-1 on 76 minutes when Montebello Caruana notched her brace after springing the offside trap and depositing into the net.<\/p>\n

Malta secured the win, as they showcased their attacking quality in an excellent display at the Centenary Stadium.<\/p>\n
