Environment Minister Miriam Dalli, together with European Funds Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi, the Bormla Local Council and the Project Green team, visited the site where work is underway on a project in Bormla — an innovative and inclusive park that will serve as a new open space for the community.<\/p>\n

The project, covering an area of 53,000 square metres with an investment of more than \u20ac1.6 million, will offer a range of facilities catering for all ages. Key features will include a mountain-biking network suitable for different levels, dedicated pet areas, and children\u2019s play spaces integrating environmental elements.<\/p>\n

The project also includes the planting of 64 new trees and 173 shrubs, further strengthening the ecological aspect of the initiative and improving air quality and the urban environment in the locality.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis project is a clear example of how we want to change the way we think about open spaces. In Bormla, we are creating a space that brings nature closer to the community, encourages a more active lifestyle, and offers opportunities for families, children and young people to spend quality time together. It is another example of how we are making our vision a reality — a vision of how our localities can become more sustainable, more vibrant and more inclusive, while having a direct and positive impact on people\u2019s daily lives,\u201d Minister Miriam Dalli said.<\/p>\n

Minister Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi emphasised how European funds are being used to create quality spaces that serve local communities while improving the environment in a sustainable way. He explained that the Bormla Grove project<\/p>\n

represents an investment of more than \u20ac1.6 million, contributing<\/p>\n

to the strengthening of Malta\u2019s biodiversity. The project forms part<\/p>\n

of a wider initiative covering 10 sites across the country, with an investment exceeding \u20ac13 million from European funds.<\/p>\n

Bormla Mayor Marco Agius welcomed the project as an important step in continuing to provide the locality with modern and accessible open spaces for everyone. He added that it is thanks to this Government, which has always kept the south of Malta in mind, that Bormla now has more open spaces.<\/p>\n
