The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works has announced the opening of a new free public car park, in the concert area in Ta’ Qali, with an investment of \u20ac13 million.<\/p>\n

This comes as over the past few months, the Malta National Park Unit, together with the Department of Public Works, have begun finalising work on the largest car park in Ta’ Qali and which forms part of the masterplan of this largest open space for Maltese and Gozitan families.<\/p>\n

The car park, located next to the aviation museum, has space for 450 cars on two levels, which also include parking spaces for persons with disabilities. In addition, this car park is modern, equipped with the best lighting systems, ventilation, modern lifts, stairs as well as a smart parking system.<\/p>\n

From a security perspective, this parking lot will include fire lobbies with certified fire doors that extend to all levels of the parking lot, fire detection systems and even fire fighting.<\/p>\n

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works Chris Bonett said that this project goes beyond just a parking lot as it forms part of the wider transport plan, Malta in Motion. He explained how \u201cthis Parking will be replicated with similar projects in other villages which will then be connected to other locations through a Park & \u200b\u200bRide service, such as the case in Ta’ Qali which offers direct routes to the University and Mater Dei, Mosta and Rabat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia said that this Government had a vision for Ta’ Qali and recalled how this area where the parking lot and concert area are today, was an illegal concrete factory. He said that this free parking will continue to improve the experience of families and all those who visit this national park.<\/p>\n

The Head of Ta’ Qali National Park Jason Micallef said that “The construction of this two-level public car park, with parking for 450 cars, is another link in a holistic plan and vision in the largest regeneration that has ever taken place in Ta’ Qali”.<\/p>\n
