New scheme of almost a million euros for voluntary organisations<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector (MCVS) has announced the launch of a new scheme called the Intergenerational Voluntary Organisations Scheme (IVOS), worth almost one million euros. It is aimed at strengthening links between different generations, through community projects led by the voluntary sector. Each project can apply for a maximum of \u20ac30,000 in funds that will invest directly in initiatives that promote solidarity, participation and experiences between generations.<\/p>\n

The launch of IVOS reflects Malta’s commitment to building a more inclusive society by creating spaces for collaboration, learning and mutual support between generations.<\/p>\n

The launch of this scheme was held by the Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia, in the presence of the CEO of MCVS Mauro Pace Parascandolo.<\/p>\n

The scheme is also aligned with the priorities of the Malta Vision 2050, which identifies demographic change, social well-being and youth empowerment among the country\u2019s long-term strategic challenges. At the same time, it also supports the objectives of the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026, a global initiative that highlights the essential role of volunteerism in promoting inclusion, resilience, civic participation and sustainable impact.<\/p>\n

Minister Julia Farrugia explained how “this scheme is not just a financial investment, but a direct investment in the social fabric of our country. Today more than ever, we are witnessing demographic changes that demand a response and a clear vision. With IVOS, we are providing a concrete platform for young people and the elderly to work hand in hand, share their experiences and build a new sense of national solidarity. This is an important step in our work to create a more just, inclusive and resilient society, where no one is left behind and where the contribution of every citizen is recognised and encouraged. Through initiatives such as these, we are delivering a policy that places people at the centre and that looks to the future with responsibility and ambition.”<\/p>\n

Mauro Pace Parascandalo, said that, “This is a new scheme, and it is a pleasure to continue to see the Council strengthen its support towards the voluntary sector and at the same time promote the civic involvement of different generations. We now look forward to seeing what projects will be coming in so that we can begin to feel their impact in our communities.”<\/p>\n

As with all MCVS funds, organisations applying must be registered and compliant with the Commissioner for Voluntary Organisations. Further details, eligibility criteria and application guidelines will be announced by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector in the coming weeks and will be available on vofunding.org.mt<\/a> .<\/p>\n
