The Department of Public Works is carrying out a wide range of projects in the locality of Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a, including infrastructure projects and improvements within local community organisations. Works are being carried out along the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a promenade, near St George\u2019s Bay. In addition, works have recently been completed at the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a bo\u010b\u010bi club, at the roof of the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a parish church, and at the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a Aquatics Centre, where new heat pumps were installed to allow the pool to be used during the colder winter months.<\/p>\n

Works have commenced on the project, which will see the construction of a new clubhouse for the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a Regatta Club. This project, which has been a long-standing dream for decades among residents, is now becoming a reality. At present, the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a Regatta Club operates from within Valletta.<\/p>\n

This project involves the construction of a clubhouse that will also serve as a storage facility for boats. It will be built close to the existing slipway, making it easier for the club to launch its boats. In addition to storage, the clubhouse will function as the official base of operations for the club, including its administrative activities.<\/p>\n

During a site visit marking the start of works, Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia stated that \u201cthe dream of providing a Regatta club with a proper storage facility, where children can come and train in this important sport, is now becoming a reality. Works have begun near the parking area in Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a, and we look forward to completing the project within the stipulated timeframe, so that the club can expand its premises and further develop its regatta academy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President of the Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a Regatta Club, Ian Farrugia, thanked the Parliamentary Secretariat for Public Works for this project. He added that the new building will serve as the foundation for the club\u2019s youth development, emphasising the importance of having a local space where children can train. \u201cThis is the heart of Regatta in Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a\u2014we have always started from within the village, and now we are evolving to have proper facilities, including a suitable storage space,\u201d the President concluded.<\/p>\n

This project forms part of a number of initiatives that have been carried out, are currently underway, and will continue to be implemented by the Department of Public Works, with the aim of enhancing and strengthening the town of Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a.<\/p>\n
