These commitments safeguard against chaos and confusion, and they chart a responsible path forward for every nation that dares to accomplish the near-impossible in space.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Malta\u2019s Minister for Education, Youth, Sports, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima signed the Artemis Accords on behalf of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMalta is taking a deliberate step to position itself within a high-value, innovation-driven global sector,\u201d said Grima. \u201cThis initiative strengthens our governance framework, enhances Malta\u2019s international credibility and creates new opportunities to attract investment, build expertise and generate quality employment within the space economy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"110\" data-end=\"266\">Deputy Prime Minister Ian Borg said that, \u201cin an era where geopolitics is increasingly shaped by technology and strategic competition beyond Earth, the Artemis Accords provide a common framework for responsible behavior, transparency and accountability among like-minded partners. By reaffirming respect for international law and fostering trust in cooperative space exploration, the Accords consolidate alliances and ensure that scientific progress is accompanied by diplomatic relevance and influence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"309\" data-end=\"457\">The Artemis Accords were launched in 2020 by the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">NASA<\/span><\/span> as part of the broader <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Artemis program<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"459\" data-end=\"593\">They\u2019re non-binding guidelines, not a treaty, and they build on existing space law like the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Outer Space Treaty<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"595\" data-end=\"643\">Their goal is to make sure space exploration is:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"754\">\n<li data-section-id=\"3uy42t\" data-start=\"644\" data-end=\"656\">Peaceful<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1nv70q6\" data-start=\"657\" data-end=\"672\">Transparent<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"17q6af7\" data-start=\"673\" data-end=\"688\">Cooperative<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"ownlyx\" data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"754\">Environmentally responsible (especially regarding space debris)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"783\" data-end=\"812\">Countries that sign agree to:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"1053\">\n<li data-section-id=\"1wwl13\" data-start=\"813\" data-end=\"845\">Share scientific data openly<\/li>\n<li data-section-id=\"1rvlzlv\" data-start=\"846\" data-start=\"1094\" data-end=\"1217\">For Malta, this is less about launching rockets tomorrow and more about positioning itself in the global space economy:<\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"1219\"
