{"id":57175,"date":"2026-04-25T17:23:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-25T16:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/livenewsmalta.com\/?p=57175"},"modified":"2026-04-25T17:23:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-25T16:23:09","slug":"the-islands-cleanup-campaign-launched","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/livenewsmalta.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/25\/the-islands-cleanup-campaign-launched\/","title":{"rendered":"The \u2018Islands Cleanup\u2019 campaign launched"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u2018Islands Cleanup\u2019 campaign has once again been launched by the Ministry for the Environment and Energy, in collaboration with the Saving Our Blue campaign, Project Green, and the Cleansing and Maintenance Division.<\/p>\n<p>Following the success of previous years, the Islands Cleanup campaign continues to encourage organisations, NGOs, young people, and local communities to actively participate in initiatives that raise awareness of the importance of preserving Malta\u2019s marine ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>50kg of waste collected during the first clean-up<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s campaign was launched at Pretty Bay in Bir\u017cebbu\u0121a, where NGOs and individuals participated in cleanups at sea and on land. A total of 50kg of waste was collected, separated, and processed correctly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs this campaign enters another year, it is encouraging to see a growing number of organisations, NGOs, and young people joining the Islands Cleanup campaign. I encourage the public to get involved in these initiatives. After each cleanup, the collected waste is weighed and separated in accordance with waste separation regulations, while recyclable material is sent for processing.
