The Caritas Foundation is close to opening its doors to what will serve as an ‘after care’ residence for those people who have reached the final phase of their rehabilitation programme.<\/p>\n

A phase described as the most sensitive and precarious due to the fact that the risk of relapse is greater, especially for those people who do not have family support and fixed accommodation.<\/p>\n

This house in Naxxar is being considered a ‘stepping stone’ and its purpose is not only linked to accommodation, but to provide stability, dignity and above all a structural plan.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, visited this residence together with the leadership of the Caritas Foundation. Here, the Minister stated that the Government will be providing financial assistance to see this project implemented and to provide a guarantee in the provision of the service over time.<\/p>\n

“With Caritas we have several agreements like these that amount to millions of euros per year. We see this as an investment in that segment of society that we want to give a chance to reform itself and eventually reintegrate in a positive way,” stated Minister Michael Falzon.<\/p>\n

Caritas CEO, Anthony Gatt, explained how this project will provide a safe, therapeutic, and empowering environment for individuals, by prioritizing women, mothers, young adults, who are seeking an independent life in the community.<\/p>\n
