\u00a0Since 2022, the Government has concluded around 140 agreements for workers and invested around two billion euros in increases alone At the signing ceremony of another sectoral agreement which meant the largest investment in Civil Protection workers, Prime Minister Robert Abela stressed that he feels proud to be leading a country that invests strongly in workers.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The agreement continued to strengthen the working conditions and career progression of officers in this body so important to our country.<\/span><\/span> During his address, Prime Minister Robert Abela reiterated that each sectoral agreement that is signed means another step forward in strengthening the situation of workers and their families.<\/span><\/span> He explained that this agreement is one of almost 140 sectoral agreements that have been concluded since 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that in increases alone, the Government has invested around two billion euros – a strong investment in workers and which was made possible thanks to the strong economy that our country has.<\/span><\/span> This is another sectoral agreement for Civil Protection workers, after the one signed in 2021. Prime Minister Robert Abela pointed out that it was this administration that changed the law in 2015, so that workers of the disciplined bodies were given the right to join a union, and thus the way was opened for these agreements to be negotiated and signed.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The new agreement for Civil Protection workers will lead to a substantial improvement in the progression and conditions of officers.<\/span><\/span> Among other things, this strong agreement is granting an allowance of one thousand five hundred euros and an increase of at least two thousand two hundred euros per year for each officer.<\/span><\/span> This is in addition to the best working conditions with faster scale progression.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said that this is a concrete example of how social principles in favour of workers and families are being translated into tangible measures that improve the quality of life.<\/span><\/span> He stressed that despite the international challenges facing the world, our country continues to offer stability, peace of mind and strong plans for important sectors such as Civil Protection.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Dr Abela thanked Civil Protection workers for their dedication and valuable work, while noting how they are among the first to respond in moments of emergency and challenges, both in our country and abroad.<\/span><\/span> He mentioned the investment that the Government is continuing to make in this body through more equipment, specialized vehicles, modern tools and improvements to stations, so that the country is better prepared.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that this agreement is not just an investment in Civil Protection workers, but part of a broader vision of a Government that wants to continue to create economic wealth that translates into better opportunities for Maltese and Gozitan workers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri, said that when they save or protect, perhaps these workers hear the word congratulations a lot, \u201cand they deserve it. However, as a Government, we believe that congratulations should not only be said, but also put into practice. Because we really appreciate what you do, but more than that, we always want to be in a better position to save and protect \u2013 because ultimately it benefits Maltese and Gozitan society.\u201d<\/span><\/span> Minister Camilleri stated that this is why the Government is continuously investing in the conditions and rights of these workers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
