{"id":56990,"date":"2026-04-20T13:19:36","date_gmt":"2026-04-20T12:19:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/livenewsmalta.com\/?p=56990"},"modified":"2026-04-20T13:19:36","modified_gmt":"2026-04-20T12:19:36","slug":"trust-and-votes-for-labour-on-the-rise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/livenewsmalta.com\/index.php\/2026\/04\/20\/trust-and-votes-for-labour-on-the-rise\/","title":{"rendered":"Trust and votes for Labour on the rise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"317\">A survey published by <em data-start=\"22\" data-end=\"49\">The Sunday Times of Malta<\/em> shows growing public trust in the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Labour Party<\/span><\/span> and Prime Minister <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Robert Abela<\/span><\/span>, alongside a slight decline in support for the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Nationalist Party<\/span><\/span> and its leader <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Alex Borg<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"319\" data-end=\"530\">According to the findings, support for Labour has increased since the previous survey conducted in October. In contrast, the Nationalist Party registered a marginal drop, mirrored by a decrease in trust in Borg.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"532\" data-end=\"835\">When respondents were asked how they would vote if a general election were held tomorrow, just over 51% said they would choose Labour, compared to 45% who backed the Nationalist Party. The results indicate a gap of 6.3 percentage points between the two parties, equivalent to approximately 19,600 votes.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"837\" data-end=\"1012\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">The survey also highlights a widening gap in leadership trust.
