In the presence of Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, the official opening of AgriFair 2026 took place today, which is being held at the Malta Fairs & Conventions Centre in Ta’ Qali and which is set to run until 19 April 2026.<\/p>\n
AgriFair is a national event that brings together all operators in the agriculture, fisheries, aquaculture and animal welfare sectors, as well as other partners in the food chain and rural innovation.<\/p>\n
H.E. Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of Malta, visited the exhibitions, including food, fruit, vegetables and animals, and was able to see the fruits of the work of Maltese farmers, ranchers and fishermen, and also the vision of the leaders of this sector when it comes to the development of farming, fishing and animal husbandry. At the time of the President’s visit, children from various schools were present, which testifies to the commitment with which younger generations are being encouraged to appreciate what this sector has to offer.<\/p>\n
The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, stressed that AgriFair 2026 is clear evidence of how the agricultural and maritime sectors in Malta have continued to strengthen and mature into strategic areas for the country. He stated that the Government’s vision is to continue to build on what has been achieved by strengthening investment in innovation, sustainability and the competitiveness of the sector.<\/p>\n
“AgriFair is not just a showcase for the sector, but a platform where work, proposals and ideas come together to build a stronger future for farmers, fishermen and all operators. We are committed to continuing to support these sectors in a concrete way so that they can continue to grow, innovate and offer a quality product that reflects Maltese excellence,” stated the Minister, adding that the Government remains committed to strengthening collaboration with all stakeholders in order to achieve long-term sustainable results and for the sector to remain resilient in the face of increasing global challenges.<\/p>\n
Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said said, \u201cToday we opened another edition of Agrifair, an event that has become an important reference point in the agricultural and fisheries calendar in our country. This fair is not only a space where we showcase the products and work of our farmers and fishermen, but also an opportunity to continue to strengthen knowledge about sectors that are essential for our economy and food security. I encourage the public to attend and support local producers. I thank all the workers and all parties involved for their work to make this event another success.\u201d<\/p>\n
AgriFair 2026 includes an extensive program of educational activities, thematic discussions, exhibitions of local products and initiatives aimed at families and youth.<\/p>\n
