MoU signed between three authorities for a joint digital portal<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Minister for Justice and the Reform of the Construction Sector, Jonathan Attard and the Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri presided over the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Planning Authority (PA), the Building and Construction Authority (BCA), and the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) for an enhanced system that will improve accessibility and digital efficiency for the public.<\/p>\n

Minister Jonathan Attard stated that this agreement forms part of a clear government vision that places citizens at the center, while promoting concrete digital transformation built on consolidation, cooperation between systems, and the creation of a joint digital portal.<\/p>\n

“This agreement is an important step that strengthens collaboration between these entities and continues to drive forward the modernization of the public service. This joint portal will be a significant step towards reducing bureaucracy and simplifying processes. Less duplication, less waste of time, and greater certainty for both citizens and professionals,” said Dr Attard.<\/p>\n

Through this initiative, a single integrated portal will be developed to facilitate digital processes related to planning, construction, and occupational health and safety.<\/p>\n

Minister Attard further explained that the agreement establishes a clear framework for collaboration that enables secure and coordinated data sharing, while ensuring more consistent and reliable services. Implementation will be focused on the real needs of users and will strengthen accessibility and responsiveness of public services.<\/p>\n

The Minister also acknowledged the contribution of sector stakeholders, who over time have highlighted the need for greater coordination and efficiency in related services.<\/p>\n

Minister Clint Camilleri added that this initiative also aligns with the Malta Vision 2050, which aims to further modernize the country through the strategic use of technology. The Minister emphasized that the government will continue investing in tools and systems that improve the citizen experience and support public service workers, while raising the level of services offered.<\/p>\n

“The PA, BCA, and OHSA are three entities that are directly involved not only in the issuing of permits but also in implementation. Therefore, through implementation within a single system, we will make it easier for clients or applicants to be better served,” said Minister Camilleri, adding that this will also result in clearer information.<\/p>\n

Through this agreement, there will be one portal through which authorities will be able to implement and receive submitted information, reducing bureaucracy as much as possible and making the process more efficient and streamlined.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Planning Authority, Johann Buttigieg; the Chief Executive Officer of the Building and Construction Authority, Roderick Bonnici; and the Chief Executive Officer of the Occupational Health and Safety Authority, Josianne Cutajar. Representatives from the respective authorities and sector stakeholders were also present.<\/p>\n
