Standards and Social Welfare Authority presents the annual report for the year 2025<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

During the year 2025, the Social Care and Standards Authority (SCSA) issued around 200 licenses to operators providing social care services in the community. The role of this authority does not stop here, as it also carries out on-site inspections.<\/p>\n

In fact, 1,762 inspections were carried out last year, with the majority of them being carried out in those offering disability, children’s, domestic violence and other addiction services. All this is done in order to continue improving the service offered, because behind every case, there is an individual and their family who need continuous support and attention.<\/p>\n

At the same time, during this year the Authority processed 41 applications for adoption, and 13 adoptions were finalised by Maltese courts, both local and international.<\/p>\n

These details were given during a press conference, during which the annual report for the year 2025 was presented. A year that saw more regulation, interventions and plans to strengthen every social service offered in our country.<\/p>\n

The Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Michael Falzon, praised the work carried out by the Authority to always strengthen the level offered, from which clients benefit. ”This authority will continue to be given every autonomy to decide in the best interest of the individual. We are not doing this to annoy operators, but to ensure that the best possible service is provided in a timely manner,” stated Minister Michael Falzon.<\/p>\n

SCSA Chief Executive Ruth Sciberras<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

SCSA Chief Executive Ruth Sciberras explained how 20 investigations were opened to establish serious shortcomings in certain services. ”It is important that where there are shortcomings, we see a willingness to cooperate with the Authority so that standards continue to be strengthened,” concluded Chief Executive Ruth Sciberras.<\/p>\n
