The renovation of the hall at St. Thomas More College \u2013 ALP (Alternative Learning Programme), Paola represents a significant investment in the school’s infrastructure to meet modern standards. The investment of over \u20ac1 million, was made in carefully planned and executed work to transform the hall into a multifunctional space suitable for educational, cultural and community use.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are continuing to carry out projects to improve educational infrastructure with an investment that is leading not only to new schools, but we are raising the level of educational spaces to continue adapting them to today’s educational needs,\u201d explained Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, when he visited the project this morning. \u201cThis is another project through which we are giving this educational institution a new hall, which will benefit students as well as their educators.\u201d<\/p>\n
The investment has seen structural strengthening and modernisation of both the interior and surrounding spaces, the installation of a completely new sound system and advanced acoustic treatment systems, making the hall more suitable for musical performances, theatre productions and multimedia presentations.<\/p>\n
Another important improvement was the installation of a full air conditioning system, as the hall had never previously had any form of climate control, and the lighting system was completely upgraded, including the installation of professional stage lighting and energy-efficient LED lights that reduce energy consumption.<\/p>\n
The modernisation of the facility also includes the installation of a cyclorama wall together with a high-end projection system using the latest technology, to enable the hall to support high-quality visual presentations. Particular attention has also been paid to the backstage area which has been redesigned to offer more adequate space for students during performances and activities. This includes more spacious changing rooms and modern sanitary facilities.<\/p>\n
The entrance has also been modernised and a decorative green wall has been introduced to bring a natural element into the space. Near the hall, the internal courtyard has been extensively refurbished. The school’s fa\u00e7ade has also been given a new look, with all the openings modernised and the metal fence restored. The outdoor area in front of the school has also been transformed.<\/p>\n
“This is professional work carried out by the staff within the Ministry. I thank them for the work they have carried out not only in this project, but also in all schools throughout the year, especially now that the summer season is approaching. We will continue with our investment, because we believe that the educational environment is important for the well-being of both educators and our students,” said Minister Grima.<\/p>\n
During his visit, Minister Grima was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary within the Ministry, Matthew Vella, the Principal of the College, George Psaila, and the Head of School, Josette Spiteri<\/p>\n
