\u00a0Prime Minister Robert Abela, accompanied by Minister for Inclusion and Volunteering Julia Farrugia, visited Dar Shalom in \u017burrieq, where he met with residents on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the opening of this home, which over the years has continued to strengthen as a space of care, affection and support for persons with disability.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Dar Shalom welcomes up to a maximum of five people with different disabilities in a safe, dignified and family-like environment.<\/span><\/span> This residence is the fruit of a partnership between A\u0121enzija Sapport and Dar tal-Providenza and forms part of a number of residential homes for persons with disability spread across the country.<\/span><\/span> <\/span>This is an integral part of the Government\u2019s policy which, together with voluntary organisations, continues to invest in models of independent living in the community.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

During his visit, Prime Minister Robert Abela had the opportunity to tour the facilities and see up close the environment in which these residents live.<\/span><\/span> He spoke with them about their experience in this residence, as well as the importance of providing persons with disabilities with the necessary support to live as independent a life as possible and be able to integrate into the community.<\/span><\/span> During this meeting, it became clear that these services continue to be built on a model that places the person at the centre, while strengthening the values \u200b\u200bof inclusion and active participation in society.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Also present for this meeting were the Director of Dar tal-Providenza, Fr Martin Micallef, as well as the Mayor of \u017burrieq, Rita Grima.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n
