Arrival of Malta-flagged yacht reinforces country’s vision for high-value, resilient tourism<\/strong><\/p>\n

Malta is welcoming the prestigious Four Seasons Yacht 1, a new ultra-luxury yacht, as it ended its maiden journey with an inaugural call into the iconic Grand Harbour.<\/p>\n

The yacht arrived early on Saturday morning, the final stop of its maiden voyage, a nine-night Grand Mediterranean tour from M\u00e1laga to Valletta, calling at exclusive destinations across the Mediterranean.<\/p>\n

Following its inaugural visit, Four Seasons Yacht 1 will immediately launch its second voyage, with new passengers boarding from Valletta, at fares starting from approximately \u20ac20,900, further cementing Malta’s role as a key hub in the Mediterranean luxury travel circuit and the lucrative Fly and Cruise market.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Ian Borg, welcomed the yacht’s arrival as a landmark moment that positions Malta as a premier destination for high-value, resilient tourism. Accompanied by the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett and the Chairman and CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, Charles Mangion and Carlo Micallef, Dr Borg boarded the yacht for the Maiden Call Plaque Exchange Ceremony, hosted by Four Seasons Yacht 1’s local representatives, Malta Cruise and Yacht Services Ltd and & Mifsud Brothers Ltd.<\/p>\n

Designed as a floating five-star resort, this Malta-flagged yacht caters to ultra-high-net-worth individuals, including Four Seasons patrons and discerning travelers seeking privacy, space, and bespoke experiences. This ultra-luxury segment represents a strategic shift towards quality over quantity, with passengers estimated to reach total per-guest expenditures of up to \u20ac200,000 per voyage.<\/p>\n

The yacht offers 95 luxury suites, each with a private ocean-view terrace, catering for 180 guests with 180 crew members, delivering personalized hospitality and a 1:1 staff-to-guest ratio. It also hosts chef-led fine dining venues and spa, wellness, and marina facilities, with AI-driven onboard systems and low-emission, environmental technologies.<\/p>\n

The vessel’s limited capacity ensures minimal strain on infrastructure while delivering maximum economic and reputational value to Malta. Its long port stays, including overnight visits, further enhance opportunities for authentic cultural, gastronomic, and experiential engagement on land.<\/p>\n

Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Public Works, Chris Bonett, stated that this vessel forms part of Malta’s Ship Registry, further consolidating Malta’s leading global position in the superyacht sector. “The registration of this luxury yacht reinforces Malta’s position at the forefront of the maritime industry and highlights the country’s reputation as a reliable and robust jurisdiction, supported by highly skilled technical professionals. The vessel is also equipped to connect to the onshore power supply system, enabling more sustainable operations while in port.”<\/p>\n

MTA CEO Carlo Micallef explained that “this development strengthens Malta’s reputation within the ultra-luxury segment and creates strong opportunities for pre- and post-cruise stays, benefitting the wider tourism ecosystem.” The Authority’s Chairman, Charles Mangion added that “hosting vessels of this caliber aligns perfectly with our long-term vision to elevate our international profile and ensures sustainable economic growth across the industry.”<\/p>\n

The arrival of Four Seasons Yacht 1 in Malta supports Malta’s National Tourism Strategy 2021-2030 by advancing its core strategic objectives.
