Investment of \u20ac6.7 million in beautification and maintenance works in housing buildings<\/strong><\/p>\n

Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue and Housing Andy Ellul announced the work plan for this year for the regeneration of social buildings in 13 localities.<\/p>\n

720 families will benefit from a strong investment with beautification work in 13 localities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dr Ellul announced that this project is spread across Malta and Gozo and will be carried out with a total investment of almost \u20ac7 million. He also announced that in total, around 720 families in more than 100 social housing buildings will benefit from this project.<\/p>\n

During a press conference in \u0126al Tmiem, \u017bejtun, Parliamentary Secretary Ellul revealed that the largest project of all is in \u017bejtun. Once the works are completed, improvements will have been made to 16 buildings, with almost 100 families benefiting from this beautification and maintenance work. The one in \u017bejtun will represent a total investment of \u20ac882,000.<\/p>\n

Regeneration work will be carried out on six residential buildings in the social housing buildings in Ghaxaq. 54 families will benefit from it with an investment of more than \u20ac600,000.<\/p>\n

The Parliamentary Secretary also announced that work will be carried out in Santa Lu\u010bija, which will benefit almost 60 families, in G\u017cira 55 families, 18 in Kalkara and 128 families in Rabat Gozo. Beautification and maintenance work will also be carried out in buildings in Attard and Luqa. Dr Ellul said that work is also currently underway on 42 buildings in Marsa, Paola, Marsaskala, Ta’ Xbiex and Mosta.<\/p>\n

During the conference in which he announced this work plan, Dr Ellul said that while the Government remains committed to increasing the stock of social housing, it is important that at the same time it continues to work on maintenance projects so that existing problems are addressed without delay. Dr Ellul reminded that dignity is not only having a roof over your head but also that a person lives in a decent environment that enhances the quality of life of residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are clearly demonstrating that for us as a Government, social housing is of central importance in terms of social justice, community environment and quality of life,\u201d said Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul. He stressed that the message the Government is sending through projects such as these is that every resident and every community should be given the importance they deserve. He renewed the Government’s promise that in the coming months and years it will continue to regenerate and invest in the people who live in such communities.<\/p>\n

Parliamentary Secretary Andy Ellul concluded by saying that these social housing properties are not just buildings but are a community that requires a stable and dignified environment.<\/p>\n

Work on these projects will include restoration of facades, work on the entrances of the buildings, improvements to the general infrastructure where necessary, and the updating of common spaces.<\/p>\n

This project goes hand in hand with several other projects through which the Government is prioritizing the quality of people’s lives.<\/p>\n
