He stressed that despite international challenges the Government remained steadfast in its promises and is fulfilling them. He added that to date, 82% of the proposals in the Malta Together manifesto have been implemented.

Over the past four years, the family has continued to be given absolute priority. This has been achieved through substantial increases in the Children’s Allowance, tax cuts for workers and parents that far exceeded what was promised, as well as through progressive social policies that have improved people’s quality of life.

Dr Abela mentioned how over these four years significant progress has also been made in sensitive and essential areas for the well-being of families, including through amendments to the IVF law so that more people are given the opportunity to become parents in their own country, the strengthening of services in Gozo, the reform of the Family Court, the collective agreements that improved the wages and working conditions of thousands of workers, among many other measures.

The Prime Minister also noted that on an economic level, Malta continued to achieve exceptional results. For the first time, national wealth exceeded the Eurozone average, while our country is now among the top ten economies in the European Union. Malta also became the country with the lowest unemployment rate in the EU and achieved the best employment rate in history. These are clear certificates of a strong economy that is working for the people.

This economic strength has allowed the Government to continue to be the shield of families and businesses. In the last four years, Malta was the only European country that did not increase the price of electricity, fuels and gas, with an investment of almost a billion euros to keep prices stable. In addition, the Government has around a quarter of a billion euros allocated to continue to offer peace of mind and stability in the face of international uncertainty.

Dr Abela said that from 2022 to the first quarter of 2026, the Government invested more than six billion euros in social investment, while continuing to invest heavily in infrastructure, health, education and the sustainable development of the island of Gozo.

At the same time, the Government is looking ahead with a clear vision for our country. With the Malta Vision 2050, the priority is now to build new skills for the future. This is also reflected in the largest Budget in the history of our country, which includes an investment of €100 million in AI and digitalisation, €40 million for businesses to improve wages, skills and modernise their operations, as well as the largest aid packages in favour of teachers, lecturers, students and parents.

Dr Abela stressed that the Government’s work will continue at a strong pace in the coming months, with a number of projects and reforms that will continue to deliver on the electoral manifesto, and continue to build a better country. Among these are the start of work on the Project Green project in Cospicua, the Organic Waste Renewable Energy Generation Plant project, new schools in various localities in Malta and Gozo, three new electricity distribution centres, a strategy on rare diseases, new infrastructure for sea transport, a new Police squad in Paceville, a new fire station in Magħtab, a new renewable energy scheme for families, the Gozo Court project, as well as important reforms in the field of justice and business, among others.

Prime Minister Robert Abela stated that what has been achieved so far is only the beginning. This Government is not only a guarantee that today’s achievements will remain for the people tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, but it is also the guarantee of the best future that Maltese and Gozitan families can aspire to.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg listed four main priorities that this Government has achieved in these four years – Malta with stability for families and businesses, Malta resilient to international challenges, Malta with a global voice for peace and dialogue and Malta that has continued to strengthen its reputation and gain trust – goals that continue to build on what the progressive and wise movement of the Maltese people has strived for in these last 13 years.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Robert Abela, this Government will continue to look forward, we will remain grounded, and we will continue to strive together, as one people, so that what we have achieved in recent years can be translated into a better life for our families, into an economy with more diversified international ties, into greater opportunities for our children, and into a more resilient Malta – a Malta prepared for the challenges of today and the future,” added Dr Borg.

Minister for European Funds and the Implementation of the Electoral Programme Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi stated that once again the Government has shown its commitment to fulfilling the electoral programme. “Every year an account is given of the measures that have been carried out during those twelve months, while it has been ensured that there is a minister responsible for this process as part of the Government’s work in the implementation of the electoral programme. The results that are being announced today continue to confirm that what is promised is not only designed and conceived, but also supported by a complete plan so that the promises are fulfilled for the good of the Maltese and Gozitan people,” reiterated Minister Zrinzo Azzopardi.

Photo: OPM

<p id="pvc_stats_56279"
