The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri inaugurated the renovation of the Il-\u0126a\u0121ar Museum and Cultural Centre “Heart of Gozo” which, through the MICE Restoration Scheme, has been strengthened as a modern, safe and technologically advanced space, capable of offering a high quality and professional experience to anyone who uses this venue.<\/p>\n
Minister Clint Camilleri stated that, \u201cThis investment is a clear example of how through work between the Ministry and local organisations we can carry out concrete projects that give added value to Gozo. We are continuing to build quality infrastructure that not only strengthens the cultural sector, but also opens up new opportunities in the MICE sector. Gozo has enormous potential, and we are determined to continue investing so that this potential turns into reality, an island that offers high-level, sustainable and year-round experiences.\u201d Minister Camilleri continued to say that the investment made is not only strengthening the Il-\u0126a\u0121ar Museum as a cultural centre, but also positions it as an ideal space for activities in the field of meetings, conferences, incentives and exhibitions (MICE), which means more economic opportunities, more quality visitors and more activity throughout the year.<\/p>\n
He explained that this space has now taken on a new dimension. Substantial improvements have been made to the museum’s infrastructure, including the air conditioning systems and the elevator, which now also offers better access control for greater security. This creates a more comfortable, safe and functional environment for all visitors and users. Modern audiovisual and technological equipment has also been installed, including streaming systems, a projector and a professional audio system, allowing events to be followed both by those present and by international audiences remotely. In addition, investment has been made in furniture and equipment suitable for conferences and events, so that the venue can offer a professional and flexible setup. At the same time, the building’s security has been strengthened through an alarm system covering all levels, to protect both visitors and the precious heritage contained within.<\/p>\n
The Il-\u0126a\u0121ar Museum, run by the Victoria City Foundation, is much more than an exhibition space. It is a living centre that preserves and celebrates our heritage and identity, while serving as a bridge between Gozo’s cultural past and present. Since its opening in 2013, Il-\u0126a\u0121ar has become an important landmark on the island’s cultural map, hosting exhibitions, concerts, lectures and community activities that bring people together.<\/p>\n
In total, this project involved an investment of approximately \u20ac37,000 by the organisation, of which more than \u20ac18,300 was supported by the Ministry for Gozo and Planning through the MICE Restoration Scheme.<\/p>\n
Minister Clint Camilleri recalled that through the MICE Restoration Scheme, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning continued to invest to support the renovation and development of venues in Gozo, with the aim of creating high-quality facilities in this fast-growing sector that offers significant opportunities for the Gozitan economy. This scheme provided financial support of up to \u20ac50,000 for projects that modernise and improve venues and facilities, so that Gozo can attract more high-level events, both local and international.<\/p>\n
