Minister Miriam Dalli, Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield, together with the team from Project Green and the Director General of the Cleansing and Maintenance Division (CMD) Ramon Deguara, visited the White Rocks site where they met workers currently carrying out extensive cleaning, pruning, and waste removal works.<\/p>\n

More than 7 million kg of waste collected from White Rocks<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

During the visit it was explained that, so far, more than 7 million kilograms of waste have been removed from the site through 225 truck trips. This work is being carried out as part of the process to clean the area and prepare it for the national park project that will be created at this site.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the decision that White Rocks would not be developed but instead transformed into a national park, one of the first things we did was close off areas that could pose a danger to people while also collecting a large amount of waste that had been dumped over the years, particularly construction waste. We are talking about large amounts of waste which, through this joint effort between Project Green and CMD, are being removed from here, revealing spaces that until recently were literally covered,\u201d said Minister Miriam Dalli.<\/p>\n

Clearing waste at White Rocks<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield remarked that this is only the beginning of the process to regenerate the site and open it to the community. \u201cA lot of work has been done, and there is still much more to be done because this is one of the projects that, as a Government, we are looking forward to completing. We have a promise to the Maltese people and we deliver on what we say,\u201d said Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield.<\/p>\n

Cleaning of White Rocks continues in preparation for the creation of a national park<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cleaning and preparation work is expected to continue in the coming months as the Government proceeds with plans to transform White Rocks into a new national park for the public.<\/p>\n

The works are being carried out through collaboration between Project Green and the Cleansing and Maintenance Division (CMD).<\/p>\n
