He explained how it was precisely while this same Vision was being built that the need was felt for our country to have a new and distinct image that reflects the Malta 2050 Vision.

“This image reflects a country that has a Vision for the future, that has the necessary grit to host innovators, and that embraces passion because we believe that from a small island we can shine rays that travel around the world, hence ‘Malta – Shine Here’,” explained Dr Abela. He added that in an increasingly competitive world, having a strong image that one can associate with our country is no longer a luxury, but a necessity.

“To date, Malta has been presented through various sectoral narratives, in tourism, investment, culture, innovation and trade. Each one is strong in its own right. But the time has come to combine these efforts into a single, unified narrative. This new Maltese story will allow us to speak with one consistent and convincing voice. We will promote our country as an ideal place to visit for a holiday, live, work, invest and study,” the Prime Minister said.

He said that the narrative is based on four principles:

Nimble by nature: looking at the advantage of being small and doing things more smoothly, such as when we introduced new laws in financial services, gaming and blockchain.

Bridges worlds: why Malta and Gozo serve as a bridge between continents, where talent and business come to meet and grow.

Focusing on what matters: because substance and impact go beyond quantity.

Make it happen: because our country is the nation of dreamers and achievers.

The renewed national visual image and narrative linked to the Malta 2050 Vision: Malta – Shine Here, will push authenticity while paving the way for further economic and social progress. All of this will make our country more attractive to talent, build confidence among investors, support exports and above all strengthen national pride. “More than a tagline – it is a strategic statement. Malta as the place where people, ideas and ambitions can grow and succeed,” concluded Dr Abela.

Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri said, “Through our determination, relentless work and positive energy, we have managed to strengthen the hope and trust of foreigners, and encourage them to come and invest in our country with confidence and certainty. In the last year we have achieved record figures in terms of foreign direct investment. Testimony that not only do we believe in the potential of our country and our people, but also investors. This is the country in which dreams come true. And while we cherish our past, today we are looking towards the future and the country that we will give to our children.”

The Head of Secretariat in the Office of the Prime Minister, Colonel Dr Mark Mallia explained how the Malta 2050 Vision is based on 4 main pillars: Sustainable Economic Growth; Accessible and Citizen-Centred Services; A Resilient Country and a Modern Education System; and Intelligent Use of Land and Sea. He went on to explain that apart from this, there are also 5 main elements that will lead to the successful implementation of the Malta 2050 Vision, these are: sustainable and calculated measurement of financial investment; the use of digital tools; future skills; policy implementation; as well as a unified visual image and narrative that have just been launched.

The Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister responsible for the Malta 2050 Vision, Ronald Mizzi, said, “Since our country is committed to making that leap upwards in quality thanks to the Malta 2050 Vision, it is equally important that this leap is transmitted through a new identity for our country, and with which we can go abroad and transmit the aspirations of the same Vision abroad. Arriving at the final choice was not an easy process and took many months and considerations because it reflects the responsibility of a State. Ultimately, the sun, and everything associated with it – awakening, newness, radiance, reflection, and positivity, we believe personify exactly what we wish to convey.”

<g transform="translate(0,332) scale(0.1,-0.1)" fill="" stroke="none"></g>

In front of the Temples of Ħaġar Qim, Prime Minister Robert Abela officially launched a renewed national visual image and narrative linked to the Malta 2050 Vision.
