Consultations with various stakeholders on the creation of national parks at White Rocks, Fort Campbell, and Manoel Island are continuing actively.<\/p>\n

Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli, together with the Project Green team, met with Nature Trust Malta to discuss their proposals for White Rocks as a national park.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Nature Trust Malta presented a number of innovative ideas and concepts aimed at strengthening the site\u2019s environmental, educational, and social value, with particular emphasis on environmental education through the involvement of children and families. The meeting forms part of the ongoing consultation process regarding the three sites identified by the Government which, instead of being developed as had long been planned, are to be transformed into national parks open to the public.<\/p>\n

Minister Dalli stressed that Government is committed to listening and working with everyone who has ideas or suggestions about the future of these sites. \u201cWe are open to anyone who wishes to contribute ideas about what they would like to see at White Rocks, Fort Campbell, and Manoel Island \u2013 three spaces that we have identified so that, instead of being developed, they become national parks. For this reason, I was pleased to meet with Nature Trust Malta, who presented several innovative ideas for White Rocks. We want the proposals that emerge from these meetings, together with public contributions through submissions on parksinmalta.mt<\/a>, to form the basis on which these national parks will be shaped,\u201d said the Minister.<\/p>\n

Johann Gatt, a representative of Nature Trust Malta, explained that the discussion focused on how White Rocks could also serve as an educational and inclusive space. \u201cIn the meeting we had with the Minister, we discussed how a site like White Rocks can be used to encourage greater involvement of children. We firmly believe that children have the right to be part of decisions that will affect their future, and for this reason we developed a plan in which many of the ideas were inspired by the children themselves. This plan was presented to the Minister with the aim of being implemented at this site,\u201d said Mr Gatt.<\/p>\n
