Today 16,600 students will receive another stipend payment, this time with the 15% increase as announced in the Budget for 2026. This 15% increase also reflects on the supplementary stipends. During a visit to the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, MCAST, Prime Minister Robert Abela stated that the economic success we are achieving in our country is leaving many positive results that allow us to continue investing in the future of students.<\/p>\n
The investment in the increase in stipends is \u20ac6 million. This is in addition to a series of other measures that young people are benefiting from to continue their educational journey, including the grant of \u20ac500 per year for a maximum of three years, the grant of \u20ac280 per month to Gozitan students studying in Malta and also the income tax savings of parents who work until their student children turn 23. Students who continue their studies immediately after Secondary School are also given a voucher for one year of free internet.<\/p>\n
The stipend for all students will be increasing by 15% where currently there are three levels, the general one, the medium priority one and the high priority one depending on the courses that the students are studying. The Government, from time to time, reviews the main strategies and the National economic, environmental and social action plans of Malta which depend on the provision of the necessary competencies and skills of today’s and future workers. This will lead to more students enjoying higher stipends, depending on the classification of these courses as medium priority and the high priority one, a clear testimony of how much this Government believes in the potential of the students.<\/p>\n
The payment of 25 February 2026 includes payment of the last days’ stipend in December at the old rate while the payment for January 2026 is at the increased rate of 15%.<\/p>\n
The Prime Minister, accompanied by the Minister for Education, Sports, Youth, Research and Innovation Clifton Grima, met with the students and spoke with them about an educational journey that will lead them to take advantage of the best opportunities that are being created in our country.<\/p>\n
In the week that the country will present the Malta 2050 Vision, Prime Minister Robert Abela pointed out that this vision envisages that the quality of life of everyone will continue to improve thanks to the economic prosperity that our country is experiencing. He said that students in our country deserve every support to build their future.<\/p>\n
Dr Abela added that the students’ educational experience must translate into the best careers and for this, students will continue to find a Government that is with them and that incentivizes them at an important moment in their lives to shape their future.<\/p>\n
