During the annual meeting of the Honorary Consuls who represent our country abroad, Prime Minister Robert Abela delivered a clear message about our country’s international priorities, while stressing their crucial contribution to advancing our country’s diplomatic, economic and national interests.<\/p>\n
While thanking them for their work, the Prime Minister described the contribution of the Honorary Consuls as indispensable, as he stressed that the results they achieve through their work have a direct impact not only on national objectives but also on the quality of life.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Abela noted that our country’s small size does not limit our national ambitions. \u201cMalta is a small country in size, but with a global vision, a rich history and, above all, a clear sense of purpose,\u201d said the Prime Minister. He noted that our country’s prosperity depends on strong international relations, credibility as an economic partner, our ability to project Malta’s values \u200b\u200band comparative strength beyond our shores. The Prime Minister reiterated that stable political and economic relations must be based on a \u201crules-based international order,\u201d and urged the Honorary Consuls to keep this principle at the heart of their work.<\/p>\n
He also referred to the strategic and practical nature of their role, particularly in relation to trade, investment and business facilitation. \u201cMalta has established itself as a stable, forward-looking, and business-friendly jurisdiction, supported by a robust regulatory framework, a workforce with the necessary skills, and a strategic location at the crossroads between Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East,\u201d the Prime Minister reiterated.<\/p>\n
Prime Minister Abela also made reference to the launch of the Malta 2050 Vision which will take place on Friday, where he stated that this vision will be strengthening our national heritage, repositioning our country and introducing a distinctive new brand that reflects our national history, a history that is still and will continue to evolve.<\/p>\n
Accompanying the Prime Minister for this meeting was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism Ian Borg who also thanked the Honorary Consuls for their commitment to the Maltese Islands. \u201cYou are at the forefront of Malta’s engagement in your respective regions. Through every partnership that is built and every opportunity that is identified, you extend Malta’s diplomatic, economic and cultural presence, ensuring that our country’s voice is heard, our values \u200b\u200bare upheld, and our interests are advanced around the world,\u201d said Deputy Prime Minister Borg.<\/p>\n
