In Gozo, the amount of foreign tourists who spent a night or more on the island reached 192,021, an increase of 7% over the year 2024.

Minister Camilleri stated that, “It is very encouraging to see a consistent increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Gozo, with a balanced distribution throughout all seasons of the year. These results confirm that the Government’s strategy to promote Gozo as a year-round tourism destination is bearing fruit”.

In fact, after Gozo experienced a marginal increase in summer in 2024, with the other months increasing at high rates. This trend was replicated in 2025. The distribution of foreign tourists across seasons was very balanced as summer hosted 37%, spring hosted 27%, autumn hosted 26% and winter hosted 10% of the total number of tourists who visited last year. While summer numbers remain the highest, it was October that recorded the largest number of foreign visitors, while December recorded the highest rate of increase. Each season during 2025 had an increase over the previous year, with autumn seeing an increase of 22%, winter an increase of 11%, spring 2%, and summer 1%.

At the same time, where collective accommodation is concerned, the trend according to the latest official statistics which includes tourism coming from the foreign and domestic markets shows an increase of 22% over the previous year, with each month recording relative increases.

Minister Camilleri recalled that connectivity between Malta and Gozo has continued to improve and this is also reflected in the increases we are seeing. During the year 2025, there were over 46,000 crossings between the islands, or 1,700 more than the previous year. This means an average of 126 crossings per day. In addition, he also attributed the fact that the Ministry is continuing to invest fully in the island’s cultural activity. In fact, during the past year, the Ministry for Gozo and Planning supported 326 cultural activities, a factor that is giving added value to anyone who chooses Gozo as their destination.

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri concluded by saying that despite this, we understand that this ongoing activity also brings challenges, and this Government remains committed to aiming for stronger connectivity. This is why during the past few weeks two new ships were announced that will be operating in 2029 with an investment of around €130 million. In addition, a task force was announced that will analyse and scrutinise the infrastructural capacities of the Port of Mġarr.

<g transform="translate(0,332) scale(0.1,-0.1)" fill="" stroke="none"></g>

The Minister for Gozo and Planning Clint Camilleri welcomed with satisfaction the statistics published by the National Statistics Office which show a positive and sustainable tourism trend in Gozo during the year 2025.
