This event, which focused on the health sector, served as a platform to showcase the talent and dedication within the Maltese scientific community, where researchers are utilizing advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence to address major medical challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Keith Azzopardi Tanti emphasized that Malta is no longer just a consumer of technology but has become a bold developer of it. He explained that the Government&#8217;s vision through &#8220;Malta Vision 2050&#8221; is to build a sustainable economic model driven by innovation and human capital. &#8220;Through Science Malta, we are providing the necessary environment for these ideas to grow and eventually reach the hands of our patients and therapists,&#8221; stated the Parliamentary Secretary. He added that investment in research is crucial by creating a local ecosystem where Malta&#8217;s brightest minds can solve global problems from within our own country.<\/p>\n<p>The event featured a showcase of five pioneering projects making a difference in the health sector:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>TRACK-RA: A project led by Professor Owen Falzon regarding the management of Rheumatoid Arthritis.<\/li>\n<li>DigiClap+: A wearable technological device for use in occupational therapy, presented to assist children with Cerebral Palsy.<\/li>\n<li>Hyper4B: Research on breast cancer treatment presented by Professor Lourdes Farrugia.<\/li>\n<li>BROADmab: Advanced anti-cancer strategies presented by Dr. Cenk Ozturk.<\/li>\n<li>LUCSIB: Evolution in biologics for lung cancer presented by Professor David Saliba.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During their interventions, the researchers explained how funding from Science Malta has allowed for the building of local expertise that is leading to more personalized and preventive care.
